VIU Education e-Portfolio

Education is like the lightbulb. It is what students are attempting to achieve and teachers hope to see happen. In the many years working in schools I have seen the lightbulb illuminate when there is a revelation in learning. To see in a students eyes and body language when there is a deeper understanding than there was before is my goal as an emerging teacher. My plan to accomplish this is to provide a inclusive differentiated educational experience for students which acknowledges everyone is unique and on a continuum of learning. As Thomas Edison said when inventing the lightbulb, “I haven’t failed – I’ve just found 10,000 that won’t work.”

‘Uy’ skweyul (good day). My name is Devon Lawrence and I am a teacher candidate from the Bachelor of Education program at Vancouver Island UniversityCowichan Campus. This webspace will be used to showcase the evidence I have collected and my reflections which will demonstrate and reinforce my understanding of the Professional Standards for BC Educators set forth by the BC Teachers’ Council.
