Articulate pedagogical perspectives for teaching & learning using technology.
(Hengstler, 2018)
Educators need to take into consideration how technology can provide ways to address special needs or make adaptations of content. School districts can have vastly different budgets regarding educational technology and as such educators need to be able to address limitations when present to teach the same content and fundamentals using the resources available.
Artifact/Evidence

In this class I explored graphic design using an open source graphic editing program Gimp in which I was required to create a simple 3 coloured circle design. This was my first time using GIMP in which I found the program difficult to navigate and frustrating to use. I currently work in a school district that is fortunate to have access to the commercial graphic editing program Adobe Photoshop. I have worked with Photoshop for many years and used it to teach graphic editing to many students and as a result saw a sizeable difference between the functionality and ease of use that Photoshop offers over GIMP.
My tool reflection for the class can be found below as evidence.
What I learned and Why is it important
Being able to teach content and curriculum despite the resources available or provided by the school district is a key role of an educator. As mentioned previously not all districts are created equal with how they allocate their budget towards educational technology. I learned that you are able to accomplish the same teaching goals using open source software despite the shortcomings in its interface. It is important that I am able to provide the same level of instruction to students with the educational technology that I have at my disposal.
British Columbia Teacher Regulation Branch (TRB) Standard Link
I can link my artifact to the first TRB as during our class (Hengstler, 2018), I was able to understand how as an educator it is my responsibility to respect the diversity of my classroom and school district in regards to educational technology. It is also my responsibility to provide my students the same opportunities and plan for diversity by investigating and implementing differentiated of content delivery using the resources available.
Educators value and care for all students and act in their best interests. Educators are responsible for fostering the emotional, esthetic, intellectual, physical, social and vocational development of students. They are responsible for the emotional and physical safety of students. Educators treat students with respect and dignity. Educators respect the diversity in their classrooms, schools and communities. Educators have a privileged position of power and trust. They respect confidentiality unless disclosure is required by law. Educators do not abuse or exploit students or minors for personal, sexual, ideological, material or other advantage.
