Apply knowledge & skills required for the design and use of custom, technology-enhanced curriculum.
(Hengstler, 2018)
Educators need to be able to apply the knowledge and skills of educational technology to customize and and enhance the curriculum they teach. Having technology is not enough if as an educator you are unable to use technology effectively in your practice.
Evidence/Artifact
Using PowerPoint I created a mapping activity worksheet where students were required to map distances and times to destination using either the map app or Google maps on an Apple iPad. (Lawrence, 2018) This provided the students with more in depth knowledge of how to use maps digitally for navigation.

What I learned and Why is it important
Creating worksheets with PowerPoint I have found a way to assist in reinforcing the use of educational technology, specifically the Apple iPad. It is important to provide supplemental materials when using technology like the iPad as it not only provides reinforcement to the lesson, but also clear guidelines and expectations of the assignment for students.
British Columbia Teacher Regulation Branch (TRB) Standard Link
I can link my evidence/artifact to the sixth TRB standard. Within the curriculum the use and knowledge of maps as it pertains to geography is part of the curricular competencies and content of the subject of social studies. Creating a mapping activity that uses mapping on the Apple iPad reinforces the curriculum as well as critical thinking skills.
Educators have a broad knowledge base and understand the subject areas they teach.
Educators understand the curricular, conceptual and methodological foundations of education and of the subject areas they teach. Educators must be able to communicate effectively in English or French. Educators teach students to understand relevant curricula in a Canadian, Aboriginal, and global context. Educators convey the values, beliefs and knowledge of our democratic society.
